Ghansoli power issues to be resolved in two months time

Link line work begins, 5 new transformers to be installed apart from other infrastructure
Power cuts and shortages are a regular phenomenon in the areas of Ghansoli, Gothivli, Rabale and Talavli areas. However it could soon be a problem of the past with the Mahastrashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDC) initiating projects in the area which will build the required in frastructure here.
The residents of Ghansoli have for long been suffering due to the intermittent power cuts. There has been suffering due to the intermittent power cuts. There have been several protests with regard to it and political parties cutting across partylines have organized demonstrations. The prayers finally seem to have been answered.
Work of laying link lines (electric cables between substations) worth Rs 33 lakh, in the area, was inaugurated by MLA Sandeep Naik on August 17.
Said Naik, “The area has had to endure link lines laid 30 years back. The wear and tear over the years and urbanization of the area lading to additional electric connections led to load on the transformer which resulted in several burn incidents in the past few months.”
Added the MLA, “Since it took time to repair the electric lines, the residents had to spend 8 to 10 hours without electrical power. Following complaints on the issue, I took up the matter with MSEDC officials. I even wrote to the Deputy Chief Minister on the issue.”
Stated Naik, “Finally the work was sanctioned and I am glad it has begun today. It will be completed in a month’s time and bring relief to the residents facing power cuts as not it will be possible o provide them electric power from alternate sources if one substation is down.”
Speaking to the media, Naik said, “The municipal corporation has begun taking care of the open electric lines. It will stop the regular power failures in a phased manner.”
Assured Naik, “I will take up the issue of allocation of funds for converting the overhead cables to underground and for new transformers among other things at the Mantralaya level.”
While MSEDC has following a query informed Deepak Patil, a former corporator about various electrical projects being undertaken in the area, Chief Engineer Bhandup region Satish Karpe told FE, “We have planned a Rs 2.5 crore worth of work in Ghansoli area. It will ensure that all the electrical problems will be a thing of the past.”
Confirmed Karpe, “The capacity of 10 transformers in the area will be augmented while be installed in the the area. We will also be replacing the feeder pillars, the red boxes, that are damaged and repairing the others.”
Added Karpe, “We also be laying new electric cables in the area which will have greater capacity to take load and will replace old poles.”
Concluded Karpe, “We are confident of completing all the work In two months time. Ghansoli residents have suffered a lot. But the wait will be worth it.”
