NGO Green Hope organizing tree plantation drive in city
NGO Green Hope is one again back in action this Environment Day. As has been its practice in the past several years, Green Hope will be launching a tree plantation drive on June 5. This time the programme has been christened ‘Green Mission 2011’.
According to MLA Sandeepji Naik, who is also the president of Green Hope, “The programme will be launched at two places in the city in the Airoli and Belapur constituencies simultaneously?”
He added, “State and Thane Guardian Minister Ganeshji Naik, Who is the ‘inspiration behind Green Hope’ will inaugurate the tree plantation programme at Gharaunda ground, near Sankalp bus stand in sector 9 of Ghansoli at 10am.”
MP Sanjeev naik, Mayor Sagar Naik along with corporators, Navi Mumbai ward advisory committee’s Environment and Forestation committee members and nature lovers will be present for the inauguration.
Another tree plantation drive will also the conducted at 11 am at sector 15 jogging track at CBD Belapur.
The drivers will include free distribution of samplings to the citizens form the specially set up distribution centers at Belapur and Airoli.
Informed Sandeepji Naik, “Various types of plants will be planted throughout the city. The type will depend on planted. We will also be erecting hoardings to spread the message of environment amongst the residents.”
Speaking on the mission, Naik said, “Global warming and the harm being done to the environment is common knowledge now. Several residents and organizations have been contributing towards environment protection in their own way. But will individual and isolated efforts really make a difference?”
He added, “The time has now come for all to not waste any further time and stand together to protect and preserve the environment. This is the reason we have planned ‘Green Mission 2011.”
Explained Naik, ‘The project aims at not just planting and preserving trees’ but the objective is to ensure that environment protection becomes the priority of the residents in whom care for environment protection will be ingrained and who will then act wholeheartedly with all their conviction. Several interesting, innovative and attractive competitions will be organized for the propose.”
Stated the Green Hope president, “Last year we had panted two lakh trees of various species in the city taking into account the geographical location and condition of the areas and the quality of the soil where the drives were undertaken. In 2009 too we had planted similar number of plants and on lakh in 2008.”
Said Naik, “ Green Mission 2011 planned by Green Hope is destined by Green Hope is destined to be a significant initiative in the wake of the harm being done to the environment all over and the destruction of greenery due to industrialization.”
Addressing the residents, he said, “Just on organization taking an initiative will not ensure complete environmental protection. For it to happen, it is imperative that every resident should recognize his social responsibility and contribute to the mission.”
Concluded Sandeepji Naik, “I appeal for wholehearted cooperation and support on a massive scale from the residents of the city.”
